2020 Vision: The Intentional Church

As we look forward to 2020, the church’s leadership desires to see our ministry theme focus on having a clear vision of what it means to be an intentional church. Throughout the year, in various ways through the preaching, teaching, and serving ministry of CCC, we will look at what it means to be a church that ministers intentionally. Whether we are ministering to preschoolers, children, youth, young adults, older adults, or to our community, the following 6 ideas for our church will be talked about and lived out:
  • Love radically: The world will recognize true followers of Jesus by our love—a powerful, personal love that goes the extra mile with one another. This is done through members showing hospitality to each other, showing grace, and getting involved with each other’s lives. Janet is planning to organize a “Secret Sisters” ministry as a way for women to show care and concern for each other. Band of Brothers is a monthly meeting of men to encourage and mentor one another.
  • Grow intentionally: When the people of God gather around the Word of God, Jesus challenges our preferences, realigns our priorities, and confirms our purpose in His Kingdom. This is done by being committed to joining in with Bible study and life group, as well as taking personal initiative to focus on one’s own spiritual journey, Bible reading, and prayer time.
  • Serve faithfully: A deepening devotion to service flows from a growing gratitude to our Savior. As we live out our unity in Christ, we have the privilege of serving one another regularly in His name. This is done by getting involved with the teaching ministry of the church (we need substitute teachers and helpers), by one-on-one mentoring, and by getting involved with projects that serve the community (i.e. cooking and serving lunch at the Senior Center once a month). The more people who step up and get involved, the less others will feel burned-out.
  • Give generously: Everything we have is a gift from God, and we get to pass these on to others! As the body of Christ, we're invited to be a living expression of God's generosity to the world. This is done by sharing your time, talents, and treasure to do the mission of the church and get the work done—everybody can be generous somehow. One special way to do that in 2020 is to contribute toward the shed fund, and then help with the work of putting that shed in place.
  • Worship joyfully: Jesus redeems our whole lives, setting us free to praise Him in the morning and evening, in laughter and tears, with a joy that declares He is sufficient in every circumstance. Worship involves commitment and loyalty to God. We want to encourage people to worship God daily as individuals, as well as commit to coming together as a community of   believers to worship together each Sunday morning.
  • Share boldly: The message of Jesus is too powerful and too full of hope to keep to ourselves. If you have been transformed by the good news of His grace, you have a story to share with the world! This is done by engaging with people both inside and outside the church. Community outreach, such as through VBS, the live nativity, worship in the park, the free little library, Trunk-R-Treat, and Timothy 5 Project are great ways to touch lives for    Jesus. We also want to continue providing our facilities as a space for outside groups to meet in such as AA, TOPS, Narcotics Anonymous, and the Special Olympics board. Sharing boldly also includes sharing our faith and what Jesus means to us on a personal basis with people we know, and   inviting them to join with us as a church… a community of believers.

God bless you as you become intentional about connecting people to Jesus and one another,
Tyler
