HULK HOGAN’S BIGGEST WIN: TOTAL SUBMISSION TO JESUS

This past week, the world said goodbye to Terry Bollea, better known to millions as Hulk Hogan. He was a larger-than-life figure in the world of professional wrestling, pop culture, and entertainment. For decades, he captivated crowds with his charisma and brute strength, filling arenas and starring in films, and becoming a household name around the globe. But for all the applause and fame, Hulk Hogan revealed that the greatest moment of his life wasn’t under the spotlight or in the ring; it came in giving his life over to Jesus. 

Just a year-and-a-half before his death, Hogan shared publicly that he had experienced a powerful spiritual awakening. In a moving social media post accompanying a video of his baptism on X, he wrote: “Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life. No worries, no hate, no judgment…only love.” 

Though he had accepted Jesus at the age of 14, Hogan said this moment was about something deeper. It was a declaration of total surrender, of serving rather than being served, and of stepping fully into the love of God. More than 6.6 million people watched that simple act of obedience, a towering man choosing to be immersed in the waters of grace. It serves as a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to fully yield your life to Jesus Christ. 

Hogan’s story reminds us why baptism matters, and that baptism is not just a tradition or merely a symbol. It’s the God-ordained response made out of faith in Jesus. It’s how we express our commitment to accept the forgiveness of sins and eternal life that comes through Jesus. Jesus Himself said: “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…” (Mark 16:16). 

Baptism itself isn’t what saves us—Jesus does. But it is the moment we publicly receive Christ’s forgiveness and declare, “I belong to Him.” It’s a benchmark of surrender, a pledge of loyalty, and a testimony to the world of a changed life. The Apostle Peter wrote: “and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 3:21). And in Romans 6:4, the Apostle Paul gives us the meaning behind the act when he writes, “We were there-fore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too may live a new life.” In baptism, we die to self, are buried with him, and rise to walk in a new life. 

The question now is: What About You? Maybe you’ve believed in Jesus for a long time, but have never taken the step of being immersed, as Jesus commanded. Or maybe you’re just beginning your journey with God. Either way, the question remains: “What are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on His name” (Acts 22:16). If Hulk Hogan, a man celebrated for his strength, could humble himself in the waters of baptism as Jesus did, so can you. Not as a performance or a show, but as a genuine act of submission and love for the Lord.
